Marker Rods

A good marker rod is actually a lousy fishing rod! The top 18" or so needs to be quite dead in action and this helps you to feel more of the contours of the lake bed – the reason why most carp rods are unsuitable for markering. Free Spirit was the first to offer dedicated marker rods knowing the importance of this tool.
Recently Free Spirit launched two new Marker rods, the Hi-'S' Marker and the 'S' Marker. These have been developed with extreme ranges in mind to complement their distance carp rods and allow exploration of features at ranges up to and in the right hands well in excess of 160 yards.
All rods have depth marks for easy measurement.

Hi-'S' Marker Rod
Built using the same 40t Low Resin Carbon as the Hi-'S' Carp rods there has been no compromise with this Marker rod and the rod will not appreciably soften even with heavy use. The benefit of the ultra-high modulus carbon is the transmission of the slightest tremors caused by variations in the bottom down the blank and the stiffer tip drastically reduces the bumping effect which bounces the lead along the bottom as opposed to dragging it across every contour.

'S' Range Marker Rods
Built to match the 'S' Range carp rods using 36t Low Resin carbon with a 3k weave this Marker Rod is capable of extreme ranges to match the best casting tools in the rod range and mean you are not fishing 'blind' at range. The stiffer tip and strong middle to butt section allow the slightest contour changes to be felt and distinguish between different bottom make up and weed. This rod does not soften to any degree with hard use.
