Terms and Conditions Non-refundable full payment in advance for all custom rod orders please.
If a deposit ( non-refundable ) has been taken instead of full payment in advance, then the balance will be due when the order is finished and ready to go. If the balance of this order isn't paid within 2 months of the order being finished and ready to go then the order will be cancelled and the deposit forfeit. Rod build times are usually about 2 months, but can be longer if parts aren't readily available. Please cancel your order within 2 days of placing it if this open time frame isn't acceptable.
I will contact you when the order is complete to arrange you getting your rods Build time can however be considerably more if the parts you have chosen are out of stock at the suppliers. I will advise of any potential delays when ordering. If you have chosen parts that are currently out of stock and you later on feel the time scale of build is to much then contact me and I'll offer alternative parts that are in stock and available at the suppliers.
Until I have all the parts I'm not in control of the build time. This is the nature of high end custom rod building, rare quality rods just take time.
If these terms of business aren't acceptable please don't place a custom rod order. Payment will be deemed as acceptance of these terms of business.
QUALITY CONTROL ( QC )
I have very high levels of quality control and build to fine tolerances. Set of rod, such are carp rods, are built as a very very close match, but not identical. You can't have identical rods as they are hand made and not injection moulded and a natural manufacturing tolerance is applicable. This is a judgement call by me and I'm quite exacting, so when I pass them through QC then the tolerences are more than acceptable. Materials such are cork and duplon etc, will have natural and manufacturing variations and I will pass them through QC before fitting. Carbon materials ( blanks ) have manufacturing variation and can have different length ferrules, thus location points of ferrules affecting overall length of the rod, and variation in pattern, weight, diameters etc. These variations are rare and minor. I refer to the visual variations in the carbon surface as carbon freckles. These are either naturally in the prepreg or show as the carbon layers join. The blanks pass the manufactures QC before they are sent to me and then I put them through QC before being built on. In the unlikely event that the blanks freckles don't pass QC at my end they are rejected. Only when the blank passed my QC will it be used. Ultra Matt finish show up more freckles than a varnish finish, this is why rods were painted or varnished to lesson the look of normal carbon variation ( freckles ) The writing on the rods is hand written and is done is a stylised script and will have natural variation as it is hand written. I only send out rods once they have passed QC, but in the very unlikely event that something was missed that I agree is below my QC pass level then I will rectify at my cost. Warranty ALPS reelseats. In the unlikey event of an Alps metal reelseat "coming loose" the repair will not be covered under warranty. A repair fee will be issued.
Any blank breakage at the location point of the ALPS metal reelseat will not be covered under warranty. A repair fee will be issued. My rods come with a 1 year “normal use” warranty on my labour workmanship.. Warranty is to the Original Owner Only The Warranty is provided in addition to your statutory rights. The Warranty applies only to defects in my labour workmanship. If the defect lies with a component of the rod, the defective component will be replaced under warranty but a labour fee will be payable to make the rod fit for use. The Warranty is conditional upon the product being used for the purpose for which it was expressly intended and does not apply to fair wear and tear, misuse or being the subject of unnatural conditions or circumstances. Should there be any accepted defects in workmanship or materials I reserve the right to effect a repair or replace parts at my discretion in order to make the rod fit for use again. It is the responsibility of the purchaser to return the product at their expense. With any return please ensure that you enclose full details of your name, address, phone number, other contact details etc. Return postage will be charged to the purchaser if not being picked up.
